The admission requirements described below are therefore identical to those of other CEGEPs.<\/em><\/p>\n<aside class=\"box\">At C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance, you can advance in your program by taking general education courses or mandatory complementary courses that you need for your DCS\/DEC. You can take these courses at C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance no matter which DCS\/DEC you are pursuing, even if the specific courses for your program are not offered at C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance. If you decide to enrol in a program offered in French at C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance, special admissions criteria for the program may apply in addition to those listed below. Please check the <a title=\"program\" href=\"https:\/\/courseselectionguide.cegepadistance.ca\/programs\/\">program<\/a> description before you enrol.<\/aside>\n<p>Applications are reviewed based on the C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance admission policy and the R\u00e8glement sur le r\u00e9gime des \u00e9tudes coll\u00e9giales.<\/p>\n<p>You must have completed the prerequisites for both the program and the courses you wish to take.<\/p>\n<p>Also note that a French placement test is mandatory before you register for a second-language French course, unless you have already passed the college-level prerequisite. (Please contact us to find out how to register for the test.)<\/p>\n<h3>In order to be admitted to a program leading to a DCS\/DEC, you must satisfy one of the following four requirements:<\/h3>\n<h4>1- A secondary school diploma (SSD\/DES)<\/h4>\n<p>If you have received a diploma from the Youth Sector, it is mandatory to have at least a one-year interruption before you can register at C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance (with certain exceptions: Alliance Sport-\u00c9tudes student athletes, extended absence from the country, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>If you have a DES, but you did not pass the courses listed below, C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance may require you to take make-up courses for the missing subjects. You will have to take and pass these courses in the year following your registration with C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Secondary V Language of Instruction<\/li>\n<li>Secondary V Second Language<\/li>\n<li>Secondary IV Mathematics<\/li>\n<li>Secondary IV Science and Technology or Technological and Scientific Applications<\/li>\n<li>Secondary IV History and Citizenship Education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you were admitted to a program of college studies leading to a DCS\/DEC before the fall 2007 semester, you may be exempt from certain admission requirements. Contact an Information Technician at C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance for additional information.<\/p>\n<p>C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance may grant conditional admission to students missing six or fewer credits\u00a0(excluding English <span>credits<\/span>) to complete their secondary school diploma. The missing <span>credits\u00a0<\/span>will have to be earned before you can register for another course.<\/p>\n<p>Note: The Minist\u00e8re de l&#8217;Enseignement sup\u00e9rieur (MES) recognizes a Certificate of Equivalence of Secondary Studies and General Educational Development certificate (GED) as equivalent to an SSD\/DES. The MES does not recognize Secondary School Equivalency Tests (SSETs\/TENS) or Attestations of Equivalence of Secondary Studies (AESS\/AENS) as equivalent to an SSD\/DES.<\/p>\n<h4>2- A diploma of vocational studies (DVS\/DEP) and completion of the following mandatory courses<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Secondary IV Mathematics<\/li>\n<li>Secondary V Language of Instruction<\/li>\n<li>Secondary V Second Language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that because of program prerequisites and our admission regulations, only the Secondary V second-language course can be taken at the same time as your first semester courses at C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance.<\/p>\n<h4>3- An equivalent education<\/h4>\n<p>If you have neither a Secondary School Diploma (SSD\/DES) nor a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS\/DEP), C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance may still be able to grant you admission if your education is deemed equivalent.<\/p>\n<p>Your education may be deemed equivalent if:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You have an education that C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance considers equivalent to an SSD\/DES (for example: you have a Secondary IV education and have completed 30 university <span>credits<\/span>), or<\/li>\n<li>You have received a diploma in a school system outside of Qu\u00e9bec deemed equivalent to that of an SSD\/DES following a review by C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Academic equivalency for studies completed outside Canada<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Please note that if you studied outside Canada, in addition to your proof of status in Canada, you will require an attestation of schooling. You can use the C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance <a title=\"\u00c9quivalence de scolarit\u00e9 pour des \u00e9tudes \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur du Canada\" href=\"\/en\/home-students\/informations-and-services\/services\/academic-equivalency-for-studies-completed-outside-canada\/\">comparative evaluation service for studies<\/a> pursued outside Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n<h4>4- Sufficient instruction<\/h4>\n<p>Under certain conditions, your training and experience may be recognized for the purpose of admission. You must have discontinued your full-time studies in the Youth sector for a cumulative period of at least 36 months and you must submit a CV.
