Montr\u00e9al, April 1, 2026<\/strong> \u2013 C\u00e9gep de Rosemont is proud to be celebrating the 35th<\/sup> birthday of C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance, founded in 1991 under a national mandate tasking the Qu\u00e9bec government to develop and offer self-paced, asynchronous college-level distance education.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cFrom correspondence courses in 1991 to online education today, C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance has always managed to adapt to the times and prove its relevance in supporting the graduation of both adults and students from the public and private college network. It\u2019s no coincidence that the number of students and course registrations has been climbing steadily for years, with over 22,000 students and nearly 40,000 courses taken projected for this year: it\u2019s because C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance enables people to achieve their study goals.\u201d \u201cAs all our courses and evaluations\u2014French and English alike\u2014are done online, we are currently working to adapt our practices to address the emergence of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). By defining and implementing mechanisms to govern its use, we can ensure that C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance continues to be a first-choice option for students who are looking for flexibility in their educational journey and want to study at their own pace.\u201d To mark this milestone, C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance will have a booth at the Association qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise de p\u00e9dagogie coll\u00e9giale (AQPC) symposium<\/a> this June 3 to 5 in Drummondville, and C\u00e9gep de Rosemont will host the 2026 Grand rassemblement du R\u00e9seau d\u2019enseignement francophone \u00e0 distance du Canada (REFAD)<\/a> next October 26 to 28.
